Ranch Tour
The crew fired up the chopper and wagons yesterday afternoon to begin piling corn silage. Our tonnage has been tremendous and the corn ears look extremely promising for the remaining harvest later this fall!
Rotating our replacement heifers to our Guthrie Division H.Q. for preg. checking early tomorrow morning. A stressful day ahead, but exciting nonetheless! 🤞
Besides attending yesterday’s annual Hereford open show at the @iowastatefair . Chance and Shayne were the “celebrity” farmers/ranchers signing autographs at the Animal Learning Center. Sorry, kids, but these probably won’t be worth much if you try to sell them online later…
These photos were taken almost exactly six months apart. Whether roughing it out on corn stalks following polar vortex-like conditions or out grazing in the middle of the afternoon with a 100+ heat index and high humidity, Herefords continue to prove their resilience and hardiness when faced with either extreme Mother Nature may present.

We got a thorough check on our bred heifers at our Guthrie Division following the holiday weekend. These girls haven’t skipped a beat since pasture turnout earlier this May. The heart and future of our program starts right here!
Prominent is looking just as good as the day we purchased him from Delaney Herefords / Atkins Herefords 2020 bull sale. He alongside 6 direct sons are helping service females here on the ranch this summer.
Looks like we’ll be welcoming a new addition to the ranch later this year! @katie.wiese and Shayne Wiese are blessed to announce they’ll be expecting their first child this November. We’re so incredibly happy for the two of you and cannot wait to welcome him into the world! 🙏

Make sure to wish the “boss” Dave Wiese a Happy Birthday today! He’ll likely be spending it behind the wheel of a Windrower, but just maybe we’ll convince him to shut it down early for some cake later this evening.
We stopped by to visit our good friend Daylon Hardy and also check in on the progress of our 2023-born feeder steers. We’re incredibly pleased with the quality and especially uniformity of this year’s set and look forward to watching them sell around the first week of July at the Dunlap Livestock Auction!
